We work with energy companies like Pacific Power, Portland General Electric, NW Natural Gas, and the City of Portland Water Bureau to help families like yours manage their energy bills.

HOW IT WORKS
Here's how to get started with our energy assistance program:
1.
Make an appointment
You can easily schedule an appointment online or by giving us a call at
(503) 713-5590
2.
Gather your information
Before your appointment, it's helpful to have all the required documents about your energy bills ready. We'll give you a call a few days before your appointment to remind you!
3.
Talk with our Energy Coordinator:
At your appointment time, one of our Energy Coordinators will call you. They'll ask you some questions and help you get started saving energy!

Make sure…
…you know the day and time of your appointment.
…you have collected and submitted all your required documents.
…your phone is charged and you are in a good spot to talk on the phone for an appointment. (appointments typically take 30 minutes).

PGE, Pacific Power (PPL), NW Natural Gas, All heating fuels (oil, wood, propane, and pellet), and enrollment in the PWB Bill Discount Program

Energy staff will make a commitment to your utility company immediately after they complete the application; but it can take up to 45 days for that commitment to appear on your bill.

Yes. All appointments must be booked through our online portal or by phone. However, you may be eligible for additional funding. Be sure you tell the coordinator at the time of your appointment that you have been covid impacted.

In most cases, you can receive funding 2x/year from Oct 1 thru Sept 30. If you do not know, please call our resource line at 503-240-0828 or email us at energy@selfenhancement.org to ask what is still available to you.

If you missed your energy appointment, you will need to make a new appointment through our online portal or by phone.

According to the USCIS Public Charge Fact Sheet, Energy Assistance is not considered a public charge.
