Point B and The Business Plan

In 2007, Point B, Inc. was selected by SEI to help guide the implementation of a three-year business plan designed to strengthen and expand our core program, adding 330 new students. Point B is a management consulting firm that specializes in helping organizations in Portland, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle execute a wide range of mission-critical initiatives.

The first step was to draft a comprehensive work plan. Point B helped SEI identify 25 critical projects across more than seven different focus areas, including change management, service delivery, program advancement, human resources, data management and technology, replication and funding. Then, Point B conducted a series of hands-on workshops about project management principles and practice that helped to prepare our staff to effectively direct and track the progress of the business plan.

“We felt privileged to be selected as the firm to work with SEI and to help grow their innovative programs,” says Steve Brook, Point B’s market leader in Portland. “We always welcome the opportunity to give back to the community – but this engagement has also given a lot of fulfillment back to our associates. At Point B, we are committed to supporting SEI and its important work with underserved youth.”

Point B and SEI continue to work together as partners, particularly as SEI’s managers execute and update their project plans and pursue opportunities to replicate our success in other cities.
